Description: Calcium chloride is produced as a byproduct of the Solvay process or through limestone-hydrochloric acid reaction, serving as a highly hygroscopic salt with exceptional exothermic water absorption. It is widely used in road de-icing (effective to -29°C), food processing (firming agent E509), concrete acceleration (reduces setting time by 50%), and desiccant applications (moisture removal). The anhydrous form (94-97% purity) exhibits 3× the moisture absorption capacity of silica gel.
