Description: Linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid is produced through sulfonation of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) with SO<sub>3</sub> gas, serving as the primary anionic surfactant precursor for detergent formulations (70% of global consumption). The C<sub>10</sub>-C<sub>13</sub> alkyl chain length provides optimal foaming and cleaning performance. It is neutralized to form SLAS (sodium linear alkylbenzene sulfonate) for powder/liquid detergents, with biodegradability exceeding 95% (OECD 301E).
